A world first has been made by The People's Republic of China; two AI News Anchors! The virtual anchor visibly appears human, yet still has a significantly robotic-style voice and can present the national news in both English and Mandarin Chinese. The artificial presenters are built based on real people, attempting to copy presenters facial expressions and mouth movements. Able to broadcast whatever is typed and sent to them, the AI news anchors were built using machine learning algorithms "The development of the media industry calls for continuous innovation, and deep integration with the international advanced technologies." - The AI Anchor For the Chinese media, this means that the cost of paying for human anchors and all that come with such is diminished, as well as being able to broadcast more frequently. However some experts in the field of broadcast journalism claim that the not only does the virtual anchor have "no charisma", but claimed that it was also pronouncing words incorrectly. Although still in its early stages, AI ethics expert Professor Noel Sharkey claimed in The Evening Standard that as the virtual anchor is created using CGI, that " it can do anything. It could levitate above the news desk to illustrate a point or fly like a rocket. it could even turn into a rainstorm. There are plenty of tricks to make for an interesting news cast." This is not the first time that such technologies have been utilised in news reporting. Recently extreme weather reports and warnings in America have been reported using 3D Graphics to illustrate the magnitude of flooding and to visually demonstrate the potential impacts. However, such use of technology in reporting had thus far been used only to accompany a human news reporter, whereas China's advancement is a replacement of the human element in broadcasting altogether. Whether any other news broadcasting station across the world will follow suit is yet to be revealed. "I look forward to bringing you the brand new news experiences."
